Become a part of the emlix-Team!

emlix brings open source technology to modern, networked industrial products. Our Linux-based systems are in use in millions of devices worldwide and enable convenient control, operation and visualisation of devices, machines and systems.

Together with our customers, we develop product-specific functionality based on customised Linux kernel and driver modules, security components, over-the-air update concepts, hypervisor architectures, and Linux container solutions.

Furthermore we combine our deep technical knowledge of Linux and other OSS/embedded aspects with the application of safety engineering to enable our clients to build standard compliant systems in various industries (e.g. medical technology, automotive).

Shaping the future of industry with embedded Linux: As a part of our continued organic growth as a company, we are looking for you to join as a Senior Systems Safety Expert (m/f/d) for permanent employment at one of our locations in Göttingen, Berlin, Bonn, or nationwide working from home, where you will work on projects in various industries.

Your tasks

  • You take care of all stakeholders involved in the project, including customers, related to safety-relevant activities.
  • You lead safety-related projects according to e.g. IEC61508 or IEC62304 together with the project manager and execute the project according to the standards.
  • You create, maintain, and refine all documents related to safety-relevant topics, e.g., safety plans, safety concepts, etc.
  • You are also responsible for conducting safety analyses - e.g., FTA, HAZOP, FMEA - and support the development of suitable system and software architectures.
  • You provide guidance within the company on safety standards to software/embedded engineers.
  • You support the definition and improvement of processes, methods, and tools for functional safety.

Your qualifications

  • University degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, (technical) computer science, mathematics, physics, or comparable training with professional experience.

  • Good working knowledge of (at least one) industry safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262, IEC 62304, IEC 61508)
  • Experienced with modern microcontrollers for embedded systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable designing and documenting complex systems
  • Independent working style and capacity to become familiar with new topics quickly
  • Good written and spoken German and English (at least level C1)
  • Bonus: Knowledge of Open Source development, in particular related to Linux
  • Bonus: Technical knowledge of the Linux kernel and/or Embedded Linux systems

Your perspective

At emlix you decide where you work. Our teams in Göttingen, Berlin and Bonn are happy to welcome new colleagues to the office. In addition, we have positioned ourselves technologically forward-looking and realise teamwork nationwide from the home office. Our remote lab enables work on the target device as if under on-site conditions and provides the basis for efficient work – regardless of the location.

After familiarisation with our development environment for Linux platforms, you will be involved in challenging and sometimes international projects. You will work in small groups with free time allocation in flat hierarchies, free from corporate restrictions, often agile and with a lot of personal responsibility.

You will be part of a motivated team developing natively under Linux and with all the opportunities that a continuously growing company offers. We offer the opportunity to quickly take responsibility for technologies, customers, as well as our own products and tools.

For your personal future, the growing use of open source technology in industry offers a future-proof professional outlook. Changing projects, technical challenges, innovative customer products as well as cross-industry experiences make working in our team an exciting prospect.
